I found out today that Racing the Moon has already sold out its first print run - and it was only released 3 weeks ago! The publishers have ordered an urgent reprint and there are even backorders. How cool is that! » Share this post

Teachers' Notes are now available for "Racing the Moon"

Michelle Morgan - Tuesday, February 11, 2014

Fantastic Teachers' Notes have been compiled by Fran Knight for Allen & Unwin and are now available for use and study within schools. The notes show how Racing the Moon can be used in English and History within the Australian curriculum. While focusing on the language and literary aspects of Racing the Moon, the notes also cover topics such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Depression, Money, Abuse, Uniforms, Reform Schools and Women's role.

There is also a link to the Teachers' Notes on my Books page.

My first review for "Racing the Moon"

Michelle Morgan - Thursday, January 30, 2014

A review of "Racing the Moon" is now on the Kids' Bookshop website:

"This is in all likelihood a fairly accurate description of the harsh life children of the time were expected to endure, however there is a lightness and humour to aspects of the novel.  There is also a sense of freedom and adventure that most kids these days do not get to experience in their own lives.  This would make an interesting class text for year 7.  For ages 12-14." (Reviewed by Erin, Kids' Bookshop)
